Nestled in the picturesque hills of Sri Lanka, my recent stay at Ardenlea offered me a break from my tea plantation duties and a chance to unwind. Although my time there wasn't without its quirks, the potential for relaxation is evident. The indoor swimming pool was a highlight, enveloped by a tranquil atmosphere that allowed for moments of calming solitude. I took a dip each morning, allowing the serene surroundings to ease my mind. I did encounter some challenges. The decor seemed quite dated, which took away from the overall charm I had hoped for. While the service was friendly, there were times when it felt disjointed, particularly during meal reservations. I can appreciate the effort put into maintaining a welcoming vibe, yet I believe there's room for improvement. If you're seeking a peaceful retreat amidst Sri Lanka's enchanting landscape, Ardenlea might serve as a simple getaway, albeit with some reservations. While I found moments of rejuvenation amidst its historic walls, a little TLC could elevate the experience.
